Museum / Painting / Film
This video was created for Stedelijk Museum Breda to introduce visitors to the museum and its collection through a visually driven narrative. The film combines interviews and carefully composed shots of artworks, exhibition spaces, architectural details, and visitors engaging with the collection, creating a sense of both the museum’s atmosphere and its historical depth.
A central element of the video is the relationship between people and objects.
Close-ups of paintings, sculptures, historical artefacts, and decorative details are alternated with wider shots of the galleries, allowing the viewer to move between individual works and the broader museum environment. The use of slow camera movements and detailed close-ups draws attention to textures, materials, expressions, and craftsmanship that might otherwise go unnoticed.
The video also incorporates a presenter who guides the viewer through the museum, providing a more personal and accessible entry point into the collection. Rather than presenting the museum purely as a static exhibition space, the film approaches it as a place of discovery, storytelling, and connection, where historical objects and contemporary audiences come together.
Through cinematography, editing, composition, and pacing, the project aims to translate the experience of walking through the museum into a short audiovisual format. The result is a promotional film that combines visual storytelling with cultural communication, presenting Stedelijk Museum Breda and its collection in an engaging and contemporary way.
